#winereview: d’Arenberg – The Dead Arm Shiraz – 1999.

Crimson in the glass bleeding out into rustier edges. Classic Mclaren Vale over-ripe and rich dark berries on the nose. Perhaps even a splash of spiced dark chocolate. Tannins still creep in on the mid palate. Softening with each glass. Hints of earth and mint with spiced darker fruits in the first 30mins. After an hour or two the tannins softened even more and a long, slightly peppery finish developed. Very complex and a lovely wine.
